So.
I suppose we should start with the basic, what is roleplaying?
First off, if I know you...you should already know what roleplaying is--seeing as I practically only talk to roleplaying people. But, if not...
Roleplaying is, in sense, a thing where you write a story with someone else.
You post something with a character you made up, the person responds with theirs...and so forth. x3
Rules?!
Naturally there are rules, dimbat. =D
1. Keep the swearing to a minimum.
Like, don't flip out with it. xD
2. No Powerplaying
Please do not powerplay!
Powerplaying is when a user roleplays another user's character.
For example,
NITE begins the roleplay with a battle.
Roleplayer1 begins to fight NITE's character.
Roleplayer1 then has her character jump on NITE's character and kills the character.
No let's be honest, would you like it if your character was killed? Only the creator of the character may chose to kill the character.
3. Use a form of OOC
Please, when not roleplaying, use a kind of OOC. (It means, 'out of character.') {{obviously this only applies for the roleplay boards.}}
OOC forms include:
ooc: You'd Type Here
((Type here))
OutOfCharacter: Type here
as well as many other forms.
It is understandable if you forget now and then--but try to get in the habit =D
4.Quotations.
You know how in books, when someone is speaking, you see quotation marks? ( " ") Well, this applies for roleplay as well. When your cat is talking, use these. =)
5. Chatspeak.
Don't use any chatspeak when roleplaying. Some roleplayers prefer you not to use any chatspeak at all, but that is just their preference. If you do, however, wish to become what some call 'literate' then I wouldn't use any chatspeak at all.
What is Chatspeak?
Chatspeak is words such as this:
omg! Do u wnt 2 go 2 the guild?
It uses numbers or shortens another word to make it quick and easy to type. When used it roleplay, it makes it hard to decipher what you are trying to say, not to mention it shows that you do not want to put the effort into your post. It shows laziness.
6. God-modeling.
No God-modeling. Ouch. This is probably the most annoying habit you can get. God-models are characters who are perfect in every way. They never get hurt, yet they always manage to beat up the other characters. If in a cat roleplay, the cats usually have white fur and blue eyes. They are the prettiest cat in the whole world; and they don't have any faults.
7. Posts.
If you have multiple things to say, please post it all in one post. But if you forget, do not post more than three times in a row. It's annoying, sorry. .-.
8. Literacy.
Be as literate as possible. No one-liners.
Try to use spell-check.
Obviously, mistakes happen so it doesn't really matter, just it's appreciated. x3
